Placement test is worth it! [Free links inside!]

Learning a language is one thing, but practicing it is an entirely different thing. While there are two significant learning flows, active and passive, practicing the language after the course has concluded takes a lot of #selfdiscipline and #motivation.

Many sign up for courses to learn at an institute or learn it privately. Some learn it on their own. Once done with the course, a majority just assumes that they have attained their goal of learning the language, and leave it as it is. They understand the songs, movies, series, and they can hold a conversation. Weeks and months later, it's all gone! How did this happen? They went to the best institute, learned from the best tutor!

The books were perfect, so was the teaching, but what did they miss?

Practice! It's an essential component of language learning!

Now, a placement test, in such a scenario, is your mirror. It reflects just how much you can retain from what you have learned, what needs to be brushed up, what was skipped.

Many tutors, institutes will insist that you write a placement test - Einstufungstest - when you enroll, the reason being:

  1. An international certificate can place you on the CEFR spectrum, but it cannot accurately test your vocab and grammar comprehension.

  2. It offers 100% transparency and honesty. No matter how great your tutor was or how much you have been practicing, if you directly enroll in a class without knowing where you are, chances are that you will get demotivated quickly as you will not be able to catch up with the speed of the higher level.

  3. There's no such thing as a 'bad score' when you write the placement test. Remember, it is all about getting to know your current level of comprehension and guide you to an appropriate course.

Often, you just need to revise and brush up for a few hours, practice and receive instant feedback to make sure you are on the right track and you are good to go!

Many websites offer free placement tests and you receive your results as soon as you have finished it!

There are some tests that place you between A1-C2, and then there are some with sublevels such as A1.1, A1.2, A2.1 and so on.
